Preveli Monastery

Located on the south coast of Crete, the Preveli Monastery consists of two main building complexes, the Lower (Kato) Monastery which is deserted, and the Upper (Piso) Monastery which is still active.

The monastery is rich in history and played a significant role during the Cretan resistance against the Ottoman Empire.

Nearby is the stunning Preveli Beach, where a river meets the sea, framed by palm trees and rugged cliffs—a truly tropical landscape in the Mediterranean.
